How to connect your Tax-Free Childcare account
To get started, follow these steps in the Parent App:
Click the three-bar menu > Settings > Wallet > Payment methods > Set up Tax-Free Childcare > Give permission on HMRC.
You will then be redirected to HMRC Services to connect your account.
Remember! Before you log in to link your childcare account, make sure you have your child’s TFC reference number to hand.
Top tip: If you're connecting more than 1 child, please ensure you use the correct TFC reference code for each child.
Log in using your HMRC User ID and password
Give permission to link your HMRC account to the Parent App
Once permission has been granted, you will be redirected back to the Parent App.
How to link a child to your Tax-Free Childcare account
After connecting your HMRC account, you’ll need to link your child(ren).
Three bar menu > Settings > Wallet > Payment methods > Tax-Free Childcare
Enter the child’s Reference ID
Select Link.
You can link multiple children to your Tax-Free Childcare account.
Where to find your child’s Reference ID
You can find your child’s Reference ID in your HMRC account under Manage Account.
How to pay with Tax-Free Childcare
Once your account is set up and your child is linked, you can make a one-off payment using your Tax-Free Childcare vouchers.
Three bar menu > Account > Make payment
Check the payment amount is correct
Select payment method
Choose Tax-Free Childcare
Select Pay now.
Your payment will then be completed successfully.
How do I disconnect my Tax-Free Childcare account?
Three bar menu > Settings > Wallet > Payment methods > Tax-Free Childcare > Disconnect
FAQ's
I'm unable to connect my Tax Free Childcare Account / I'm unable to see the option on the Parent App.
If this happens, please ask the Parent to clear the cache data on the Parent App.
How is this completed? The steps will vary depending on the device being used. We recommend searching online for the instructions specific to their device.
If clearing the cache does not resolve it, the parent could remove and reinstall the app.
